Artist's Statement:I have been creating original art since I was a small child. I studied advertising art at Chattanooga State, and then worked at an advertising firm in Chattanooga. In 1981, during brain tumor surgery, I suffered a severe stroke that paralyzed the right side of my body. With the help of my family and God I managed to re-teach myself how to hold a paintbrush, write, talk and walk. I started selling art again in 1987. I have tried to use my paintings to "lighten moods" ever since. TOP "I paint mostly from photographs. I sometimes use other material but I prefer Oil Painting. I like to keep my subjects light and simple to allow an escape from the violence and cruelty of this world. I like Flower Paintings and Children because of their simple charm. Using the photograph as a reference helps to keep an air of realism. I hope my work will stir up emotions while taking you to a happy place." TOP Awards:1990 Disabled Professional Woman of the Year awarded by the Atlanta Pilot club. I am a member of the Chattanooga Area Brain Injury support group and contribute to their fall auction every year.
